At the Sandhills Slide, this August, Joelyn Brown of  Colorado writes that she and her 2004 Red Dun Gelding ( Hickory Chic Olena x Unduniably Jackie) were 3rd in the Non Pro and Ltd Non Pro Futurities. CONGRATULATIONS! She plans to participate in more Futurities this year, and in Derbies next year, stating: "I just love riding him and he has an unbelievable disposition.  I gave him some time off with just exercise and, when I went down to Drake's (my trainer's), he couldn't believe I hadn't been riding him. He is full brother to 2004 Dun With Chics (found above, on our “News” Page, and on our “Performers” Page), full brother to 2005 Chic Du Jour (in “Foals”, below), and half brother to Brenna’s 2002 Chicolena San and Hickory Chicaroo.

Chris Zier’ writes that his 2006 Half Arabian Palomino filly [Bey Phenomenon x Cowboys Flashy Star (by Cowboy Of The Land)], won her Halter class and was second in Showmanship for her age group at the Summertime Arabian Show in Longmont, CO this July. Best Wishes at your upcoming shows!

We are also excited to watch for his half sister, 2005 KR Hollywinder Chic (Hickory Chic Olena x Cherees Hollywinder), who begins her career in 2008!

Designer Hickory Chic (pending) - This handsome 2006 Sorrel Colt, by Hickory Chic Olena and out of Shez Gunna Do It (Mr Gun Smoke grandaughter) was previously owned by Sabrina McIntyre, then purchased by Jenn Leiker in early 2007. Jenn e-mailed that she “just got a Hickory Chic yearling – he’s gorgeous, lots of chrome and settled out to be a handsome red roan. Jen writes: "I think, due to a few distinct features, he is technically coloured as a ‘rabicano’, which means Hickory carries that gene. I like Rhoda’s bay mare and a few others I’ve seen over the years, so I’ll be excited to start him next spring . So far, he’s smart and sensible . . . has some spark, is balanced and... really attractive. I try to put ‘Design’ or ‘Designer’ in the names of horse’s I’d like to attach my name to, and I think this colt will be one of those. The plan is to head him toward the NRHA and NRCHA show pen. We have taken to calling him ‘Stephen’, short for Stephenville. " Thanks, Jenn, and looking forward seeing him out there!
